King Post Retaining Wall and CFA foundation piles installed in London King post retaining wall and CFA foundation piles installed in courtyard of building in London as part of extension works for a listed building. The access to and within the site was extremely restricted so we selected a CZM EM600 compact CFA piling rig to carry out the works. This CFA piling rig was initially used to bore the holes required for the kingposts to be installed to create the retaining wall, and then moved onto install 450 mm diameter CFA foundation piles to 8 m depth throughout the site as required. read more...read more...
Deep soil mixing canal base ground improvement Recently soil mixing provided a successful solution to British Waterways at the Shropshire Union Canal in Shebdon on the Staffordshire - Shropshire border. The canal had been leaking for many years and even with the introduction of sheet piles on both sides, the water was not able to be stopped from dissipating through the canal bed and out the sides of the embankment. Eco Foundations were able to respond immediately to the emergency situation utilising it's mass soil mixing rig to solidify the base of the canal into a clay-like substance utilising a cement - bentonite binder. read more...read more...

Sheet Piling
Sheet Piling - Steel Sheet Piling installed by Leader Rig

Sheet Piling

Steel sheet piling is widely used as quick and economical method of installing retaining walls, both temporary and permanent. Piles are selected according to their strength and section modulus for the job required.

Sheet piles can be installed using traditional methods utilising a telescopic leader rig and resonance free variable moment vibratory hammer. This is the quickest and most efficient method in most granular and cohesive soils. Silent vibrationless piling techniques utilise pressing methods. Eco Foundations have available leader rig mounted presses which are economical for installing shorter piles, typically up to 10 m and Giken type pile presses for longer, heavier sheet pile sections and tubes.

If piles are temporary then they may be extracted at the end of the contract and bought back. Alternatively if the duration is short the piles may be rented for the duration of the project.

Sheet Piling is often used for permanent flood defence retaining walls in flood alleviation schemes.

Eco Foundations are able to offer a full design and installation service to include propping and anchor systems as required.
