Deep Soil Mixing for housing estate access roads in Norfolk

Specialist UK piling contractor Eco Foundations carry out deep soil mixing for new access road for a housing estate in Norfolk, East Anglia.

The road is part of a development being built by Bloor Homes in Caister on Sea. Due to soft ground being present including peat and alluvial deposits Eco Foundations were awarded a contract to improve the soil using it's mass stabilisation deep soil mixing system. An excavator with mixing tool introduced cement binder into the ground and mixed it thoroughly to bring the ground up to the strength required for the road to be constructed.

A thorough testing regime was carried out including window samples and plate testing of the treated ground, and the computer records maintained in the machine added to the overall QA handed over to the client.

The work was a success and a second phase is due to be awarded in the new year.
